How do I choose if my food is On-path or Off-path?

No need to stress about the decision because you can always go back and change it

This is all up to you. It's about holding yourself accountable for the decisions that you make. Don’t cheat yourself. It will just take longer of a journey to reach your goals if you decide that an Off-path meal is On-path. If it is Off-path and does not fit your goals, then choose the Off-path button. It really is ok! It's about understanding you and your own habits.

No one will scold you, rather you’ll learn and make better choices the next time.

However, if you prefer to not have to make a decision, you can turn off "Hide On/Off-Path". To do so: Profile > Settings > App Setup > Hide On/Off-Path.

How else to look at On-path or Off-path?

Deciding whether your meal is "on path" or "off path" is entirely up to you, but if you need more guidance, here are some tips to consider.

Try an Experiment

One approach is to try an Experiment (if you're looking to try and build new habits and need some inspiration on where to begin). If you've decided on an experiment and that food or habit was reached and within the goals, it’s On-path; if not, it's Off-path.

Food Allergies and Sensitivities

Are you someone who is trying to get to the root of a possible food allergy or food sensitivity? Another method involves monitoring food allergies: if you experience no adverse reactions, the meal is On-path; if you have a reaction, it’s Off-path. This is especially great because later you can then view all of your meals in a grid and what was On-path and what was Off-path.

Overall Well-being

You can also assess how your food choices impact your energy levels, mood, and overall well-being. Meals that leave you feeling energized and satisfied can be considered On-path, while those that cause discomfort or sluggishness may be Off-path. Ultimately, the criteria for On-path and Off-path meals can vary based on your personal health goals, dietary preferences, and lifestyle. Customize goals and experiments with different approaches to find what works best for you.
